The event is free and open to the public with registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its 2016 inception in Paris, the Night of Ideas (<em>La Nuit des Id\u00e9es<\/em>) gathers French and international thinkers to discuss major issues of our time each year around the globe. HE H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Duch\u00eane, French Ambassador to the UK, will launch the Night of Ideas 2025 at 18h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"766\" src=\"https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1-1024x766.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2709\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1-1024x766.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1-768x574.jpg 768w, https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1-1536x1148.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/reach.ircam.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7212-2048x1531-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the performance, Elaine Chew plays the Institut\u2019s 1907 Pleyel grand piano in a musical duel with somax2 which will be steered by G\u00e9rard Assayag whilst their heartbeats and breathing are visualised by heartfm in a semi-improvised performance of music by Pierre Boulez (Elez-Boulaine) with a dash of music by Maurice Ravel in celebration of Boulez\u2019s centenary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another delightful collaboration with G\u00e9rard Assayag (ERC REACH) on Elez-Boulaine with G\u00e9rard guiding somax2 and with heartfm visualisations of performer ECG, breathing, and heart rate variability. Somax2 corpuses from Boulez, Jean-Brice Godet, Val\u00e9rie Philippin, Francesco Guerri, Alice Teyssier in response to Elaine\u2019s playing. Elaine samples from Boulez\u2019s Fragment d\u2019une \u00e9bauche and Ravel\u2019s Jeux d\u2019eau in response to somax2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube
