Improtech is a musical festival and an interdisciplinary workshop bringing together research and creation in musician – machine intelligent musical interaction. After praised editions in New York, Philadelphia, Athens and Uzeste, Improtech Paris-Tokyo has landed down in Tokyo, on july 29, 2024, organised by REACH.
This edition of Improtech in Tokyo has welcomed a number of brillant personalities during a week long series of workshops and lectures at Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai), crowned by three exceptional concerts including an event at one of the oldest and most revered Tokyo Shinto shrines, Konno Hashimangu, frequented by writer Mishima.
One of the signatures of this Improtech is the east – west encounter of different instruments, musical traditions and performing arts, with the presence of world-class virtuoso playing the Koto, the Sho, the Kugo, or dancer performing the Butoh dance.

Special Thanks to Marco Fiorini and Jose-Miguel Fernandez who got the machine working with incredible skill and courage, and to all the Geidai Crew and students. And a salute to Joni Woka, who brought the Hashimangu Shrine and the Japanese artists for the special event, and to Jean-Baptiste Bordes and the French Embassy who supported us with the cocktail party at the Shrine. A very special mention for Geidai Pr Satchie Saito who helped us so much with all her generosity and caring.
